Our Story
About Us
Since she was a little girl, Catherine always believed in magical lands far away in the clouds.
A natural storyteller from a young age, her imagination stood out early. Her Year 1 teacher even approached her mother to share how exceptional Catherine’s storytelling skills were for her age. She would spend hours alone, creating elaborate magical tales, acting them out with dolls and homemade props built from anything she could find around the house and garden.
It was Catherine’s mother and grandmother who introduced her to the enchanting world of Old Hollywood – an era filled with star-studded performers who could sing, act, and dance. This timeless charm left a lasting impression, shaping her unique style and influencing the business she would later build.
After graduating Year 12 at MLC School in Burwood, where she had attended since Pre-K, Catherine pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education at Macquarie University. During high school, she had worked casually as a nanny and discovered her immense love for working with children. In the year 2000, while studying, she came up with a magical idea: to start a business as a children’s party entertainer – a fairy! Combining her love of fantasy, storytelling, and children, “Fairy Princess Diamond” was born. The character quickly became beloved across Sydney.
Catherine’s mother always told her, “Do what you know.” She was right. When you’re skilled and passionate about your work, it never truly feels like work and it usually leads to success.
At the time, there was no rulebook, no how-to guide for what she was doing. The early 2000s saw few fairy entertainers – mostly clowns and magicians – and online stores didn’t exist yet. Her first Fairy Princess Diamond dress was bought from a bridal store.
At just 18 years old, equipped with a Gregory’s Street Directory, Catherine would drive all across Sydney every weekend, performing from morning till night, quickly changing into different costumes and wigs in her car. It was the beginning of her business, Finding Fairyland, and the start of something truly magical.
Her unique performance style and professionalism gained attention quickly, with word-of-mouth fuelling the business’s rapid growth. Catherine soon employed a team of 10 young performers in Sydney, training them personally, and later expanded to Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, and the Gold Coast.
She pioneered Disney Princess character entertainment in Sydney, a trend that snowballed in the years that followed. Testimonials from that time (see them on this website) speak to the wonder she and her talented team brought to families and children.
Since launching in 2000, Catherine has personally performed at over 7,000 events, including many high-profile corporate and celebrity occasions.
She also dedicated more than 14 years as a volunteer on the Advisory Committee at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick, donating her time weekly to bring joy to young patients.
All the while, Catherine dreamed of opening her own magical party venue – a treasure trove of props and wonder she had collected over the years, where children could escape into the dreamland she had imagined as a child.
In 2013, she met Guillaume – a charming Frenchman from the South of France, with a background in hospitality and training as a pastry chef. Warm, engaging, and with an incredible memory for names and faces, Guillaume soon became not only her partner in life, but also in business.
With Guillaume’s front-of-house expertise and Catherine’s experience as a long-time children’s entertainer, the dream began to take shape.
2015 was a fairytale year. In July, Catherine and Guillaume were married. In September, they received the keys to the shop that would become Fairy and the Frog. As they prepared to open the venue, they discovered Catherine was pregnant – with twins!
William and Benjamin were born in June 2016. Then, in April 2018, they welcomed their surprise little fairy princess, Annabelle. Around this time, they transitioned away from hosting mobile parties in private homes. With three young children and the growing demands of the venue, they chose to focus mobile services exclusively on corporate bookings.
And the magic didn’t stop there. In February 2024, their fourth child – a beautiful surprise son – was born. Affectionately nicknamed “Teddy” (short for Edward), he completed their fairytale family.
Now celebrating 10 wonderful years at their Concord venue, Catherine and Guillaume have hosted thousands of parties and helped create lifelong memories for families. Fairy and the Frog is truly a labour of love.
Young Annabelle, now a familiar face at many parties, shares her mother’s passion for performance and has been learning the craft from the moment she could walk. One day, it will be a proud, full-circle moment when she leads the magic herself.
Filled with vibrant treasures, nostalgic props, and storytelling charm, Fairy and the Frog is a one-of-a-kind, private venue for children and the young at heart. Hosting your child’s party here is completely stress-free – just bring the birthday cake, and they will take care of the rest.
Together, Catherine (The Fairy) and Guillaume (The Frog) continue to passionately run their family business. With the support of a dedicated team of kind-hearted staff, they ensure every weekend is filled with joy, adventure, and magic.
This photo of Fairy Princess Diamond was taken just after a party she hosted in a park on 28th March, 2005. This was Catherine’s second fairy gown, which she had custom made by a talented dressmaker in Sydney’s CBD.
